Developmental FX -The Developmental & Fragile X Resource Centre
WHAT'S HAPPENING AT DEVELOPMENTAL FX
Clinic Update:
  • This fall, we will be busy seeing a variety of children and adults. While the focus of much of our work is on Fragile X Syndrome, we also see a diverse and varied population here at DFX, with a number of different neurodevelopmental, language, sensory integration, motor and cognitive needs. Give us a call!
  • What could be the sweetest, coolest thing ever? What could be the highest honor ever bestowed upon Developmental FX? Well, Tracy and Mouse attended the International Fragile X Conference in St Louis July 2008 and received the Jarrett Cole Award for achievement in Clinical work. To be recognized by the foundation, our peers and the families we work with is surely the highest honor. Thank you friends!
  • Developmental FX became a PERMANENT Not-for-profit as of January 2008. As we continue to grow, we'll be looking for additions and changes to our governing board, fundraising, grant writing and location!!!! If you are interested in contributing to Developmental FX in the capacity of a Board Member or through donations, please let us know!
  • We have to brag about OUR STAFF at DFX!
Ruth Meissner, Speech Pathologist, recently became a certified Hanen Instructor. Her skills will be put to good use as she sees many children under the age of 5. Congrats Ruth!

Tracy Stackhouse, Occupational Therapist and founder, recently finished the Basic Course on the DIR/Floortime model as well as the Regulatory Sensory Processing Disorders adjunct course which has been a strong addition to the eclectic therapies used here at DFX.

Meg Swearingen, our primary Occupational Therapist, continues to lead the way in integrating strong behavioral, developmental and sensory integration approaches into the true essence of occupational therapy for our kids and families.

Syd Martin, Occupational Therapist, continues to work for us on a part time basis while supervising part of the OT program at The Children's Hospital.

Kathy Culhane Shelburne, PhD, has been with us for five years now and is one of the most experienced and thoughtful diagnosticians in the state. She works tirelessly to help parents understand their child's diagnosis and where to seek services. We are so fortunate to have Kathy on staff as she provides a model for Team interaction and evaluations.

And then there is Jennifer Vermeyen, our Office Manager. She keeps our noses to the grindstone and our schedules organized! We couldn't function without her.
